I love design! You could say that I'm addicted. I see it everywhere. It's something I'm passionate about. I think about it day and night. I love coming up with designs, writing about them, collecting, and drooling over them. I can tell you that medium cadmium red mixed with cerulean blue makes a light pretty grey, the kind that looks like an overcast cloudy day,... or that a really funny ad just crossed the line to being insulting. I can tell you if a cafe needs to change a few light bulbs to make it feel more inviting, or when a curve needs to be rounder to balance other elements on the page... I ponder about the design of cities and mass transit,... and little plastic sporks! I spend my life asking questions like:
How would a filmmaker design the sequence of a book? What does product design ideology share with minimalist art? How does an environmental designer approach designing a website? Would she think of the computer screen as a field that stretches forever into an imaginary horizon?
And more esoteric questions like: How does the "industrial revolution" liberate and enslave the masses at the same time? What would Karl Marx have to say about the internet? What would Mies van der Rohe have to say for the Disney Music Hall? What about Robert Venturi? And what side dish should I cook tonight that will go well with lemon pepper salmon?
There's a little bit of everything here spanning from illustration and graphic design; to industrial design, video art, photography, and installations. While design portfolios typically focus on one field, this site encompasses, overlaps, and explores hybrid fields of design.
